We offer high-quality xenon arc lamps for use in solar simulators, a tool used to provide an accurate and effective assessment of PV cells by creating artificial sunlight. Solar simulators fall into two distinct types based on how they produce this artificial sunlight, both of which can be supported by Amglo lamps:
• Flashed simulators (also known as pulsed simulators) emit light in short bursts, usually only a few milliseconds each.
• Continuous simulators are used for low intensity testing and emit light in a steady stream.
Both types of solar simulators require a powerful, reliable light source that mimics the qualities of sunlight. Amglo’s xenon arc lamps are a type of high-intensity discharge (HID) lamp that generates a powerful electric arc, offering the power and reliability needed for testing solar PV cells while also emitting an unfiltered spectrum that’s a close match to light from the sun. The artificial sunlight makes it possible to assess the quality and efficacy of cells in indoor laboratories.
